The single biggest desk fix for neck strain is screen height: the top of your monitor should sit roughly at eye level, so your gaze falls slightly downward without tilting your chin. If you're on a laptop, this usually means propping it up on a stand or a stack of books and using an external keyboard — otherwise you're always looking down. For dual monitors, the one you use most should be centered directly in front of you, not off to the side. Phones are the worst offender: holding one at chest height instead of eye height is what causes 'text neck.' None of this requires new equipment to start — a stack of books and 10 minutes of adjusting is often enough.
